About Kristen

Kristen Miller is a Billboard Charting Cellist and Shamanic Sound Healer. Classically trained from an early age, Kristen discovered non-classical improvisation as a means of self-expression after graduating from college with two music degrees. She began writing her own compositions which led to three solo releases, all of which charted on college and community radio across North America. After releasing the duo album Winter Loves Company (2010) with pianist/composer Tom Eaton, Kristen felt compelled to begin writing music specifically for the purposes of healing. In addition to being a professional cellist, Kristen is a shamanic practitioner in the Unani tradition, and holds sound healing certification from the Atma Buti School of Sound and Vibrational Healing in Boulder, Colorado.

Miller was the cellist on Ryan Judd’s guitar and cello duo record An Open Sky (2018) which won a Zone Music Reporter Award and spent over a year on the Billboard Top 10 Chart for New Age. Her latest three releases of Heart Dance Records have enjoyed global radio play including placement on Sirius XM Spa channel, Air India, Hawaiian Air, and editorial playlist placements on Spotify and Pandora. Kristen’s latest collaboration with pianist Alise Ashby, ”The Gift” (Heart Dance Records, 2024) was hailed by New Music Alert as “a testament to the transformative power of music.”

In addition to solo playing, Kristen also enjoys work as a session cellist for artists like What Time is it, Mr. Fox?, Vance Gilbert, and Irma Thomas. She is the recipient of several awards and scholarships including Jam Magazine’s Female Artist of the Year, and the Zara Nelsova scholarship for excellence in cello playing. Kristen lives on the north shore of Massachusetts.

On her new EP Dwellings, Kristen Miller weaves lush cello melodies and ethereal harp textures into a collection of seven pieces that transport the listener to deep states of transformation and healing. On this record, Kristen is both the harpist and the cellist. Each track corresponds to a different chakra in the body as well as a specific aspect of a home or a dwelling. Tracks can be listened to individually to heal a specific issue or collectively for a general healing and sense of well-being.
